Hunza Nagar - January 19, 2026 A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck northern Pakistan, causing damage to houses and roads in Hunza. Tremors were felt in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Peshawar and several other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, triggering panic among residents who rushed out of their homes.According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake originated in the mountainous region of northwestern Kashmir, with a depth of 10 kilometers. In Hunza, houses and roads were damaged in Chapursan village, while a landslide in Reshit village disrupted the link road. Structural damage was also reported in the areas of Shitmerg and Zoodkhun.Authorities are assessing the extent of damage, while residents remain fearful amid aftershock concerns.
