India: In the Buddhist festival, foreign artists showcased Buddhist culture through art spiritual Harmony

The three-day International Buddhist Festival 2026 was inaugurated with great pomp on the evening of 22 January 2026 in Bodhgaya, Bihar.

The festival, held at the Kalachakra grounds, was inaugurated in the presence of high-level guests and was attended by a large number of local residents, devotees and tourists.

Artists from Vietnam and Thailand performed traditional dances that captivated the audience. A 15-member Thai troupe performed the Bun Mahachat or Bun Phawet traditional dance.

It commemorates the birth of the Prince Vessantara incarnation of Lord Buddha. Artists from Vietnam presented a spectacular performance of the Mask Dance (Makhota Nritya), with two artists giving a mesmerizing performance.

The festival was attended by a large number of locals, officials, and their families. They stayed until the end to listen to Javed Ali perform, sometimes even clapping their hands.The enthusiasm of the audience was such that at the end of the program, the crowd demanded more songs from Javed Ali, due to which the Kaalchakra ground kept echoing with his melodious voice till late night.

The three-day international festival was enriched with performances by artists from various countries, including Thailand and Vietnam, as well as other countries, who brought alive Buddhist culture and traditions.The festival features cultural events and other attractions that will further cement Bodhgaya's place on the global tourism map. The success of the first day clearly indicates that the festival will only grow in scale in the coming days.
