The pair were taken into custody at the Aloft Hotel in connection with an incident on Sunday, Jan. 18, when anti-ICE protesters interrupted a church service in the Twin Cities.

Prior to the arrests, the Justice Department had announced an investigation into the disruption.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon stated that authorities were probing for federal civil rights violations, accusing the activists of "desecrating a house of worship and interfering with Christian worshipers."
