Truck smashes into toll booth in China as driver was fatigued
A driver smashed a truck into a toll booth in eastern China due to fatigue.
The CCTV video, shot in the city of Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province on January 15, shows a truck crashing through a refuge island and smashing into a toll booth on Shanghai–Jiaxing–Huzhou Expressway.
The driver was seen stepping out of the truck and the toll collector climbed out of the booth from its window.
According to reports, the truck was transporting over 20-tonne pineapples from Pingxiang City to Jiaxing City. Since the driver was sleepy and could not open his eyes, the truck smashed into the toll booth.
The truck driver named Liu was fined 200yuan (£23) due to driving while fatigued and he also needed to pay for the high maintenance costs of the toll booth.
