Rival mini bus taxi associations reach agreement after weeks of deadly violence over taxi routes in Cape Town

Since the start of July 24 people were killed in deadly taxi violence in Cape Town.

Rival taxi associations were at logger - heads about the B97 route between the boland town of Mbekweni and Bellville.

In a marathon negotiation headed by the National Minister of transport Fikile Mbalula and others the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Associations ( CATA ) and Congress of Democratic Taxi Associations agreed to a 12 point marching plan that will see numerous differences addressed. The plan also includes a process of arbitration over the disputed route B97.

The taxi associations apologised to the commuters for the disruptions and welcomed the agreement
