Cape Town’s “People’s Horse” wins 2022 Cape Met
“Kom met die ding” owned by Ashwin Reynolds from the working class community of Grassy Park on Cape Town’s notorious Cape Flats won the 2022 Cape Town Met. The Met is Africa’s largest horse race. The horse has been call the “People’s Horse” by locals.
Kom me die ding’s jockey is Gavin Lerena. Kom met die ding is roughly translated into “bring it on”. The horse also won the 2021 Durban July race.
Aneeqah Fataar, a local social media influencer, was one of the faces of the event’s social media campaign.
Ryana Price, a Cape Town resident, has attended the race since 2014 and attends the event for the fashion and glamour.
