A road to Castleford had to be closed today Sunday 20th February, after the nearby River Aire burst it's banks. Barnsdale Road between Allerton Bywater & Castleford flooded around 1pm this afternoon due to the recent heavy rain caused by Storm Dudley, Storm Eunice & Storm Franklin. Traffic management blocked the road off with signs and barriers to prevent motorists becoming stranded. The Met Office had issued a warning for the area which lasts until 3pm tomorrow. The road sits on a flood plain so is known for being closed when heavy rain falls in the area.
