TV hardman Ross Kemp will be diving into the history of Britain's most dangerous shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery (a WW2 American Liberty ship) in the Thames - which sank 1.5 miles off Sheerness beach in Kent, UK with 1400 tonnes of explosives still onboard in 1944 - in a new Sky History channel documentary.

Ross Kemp will dive on a series of incredible shipwrecks around the British coastline in the four part series which starts April 18.

Footage shows shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery captured at low-tide this morning (April 6) from Sheerness beach.

The UK Government have contracted Briggs Marine to remove the historic wreck's three masts starting in June to reduce strain on the vessel.

The February issue of Ocean Sailor Magazine gives a clue as to how this work will be performed with the editor noting: "Briggs Marine plan to erect an oil-rig like structure over the masts so they can be cut and carefully lifted off the hull".
