A Chinese man in Tianjin who contracted COVID-19 found his tongue and teeth turned black.

In the video, black stains were visible on his tongue and in the gaps between his teeth.

Fortunately, his tongue and teeth turned much lighter than before now.

After searching the cause online, the man was shocked to find that he may have the "black hairy tongue" disease.

It was reported that since the Chinese government eased COVID-19 restrictions at end of November, an increasing number of people got infected with COVID-19.

Quarantine became no longer compulsory and people could choose to stay home and treat themselves. Also, the peak of the epidemic will probably last until after the Spring Festival at the end of January next year.

Chinese medical professionals have theorised that a weakened immune system and a high temperature due to COVID-19 may have contributed to this. It has not been confirmed if there is a direct link between COVID-19 and black hairy tongue.

The video was filmed on December 17 and provided by local media with permission.
