This is the moment a landslide crashed onto a road blocking it to motorists after heavy rain in the Philippines.

Footage shows a large chunk of soil sweeping away trees as it tumbled down onto a road in Banaue municipality in Ifugao province on January 16.

The landslide clogged the path with debris, leaving tourists headed to neighbouring Mountain Province stranded.

Banaue police said days of inclement rain had softened the earth, triggering the landslide.

Clearing operations are underway, but authorities are unsure when the road can be opened to traffic.
