An allegedly overloaded crane collapsed killing one worker and injuring two others in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday.

The 100ft tower crane was deployed to erect a new office for the Auditor General in front of the JJ mall in the Chatuchak area of the developing city when its arm buckled and slammed onto the building's frame.

However, the machinery snapped, tragically killing one Cambodian worker, who was around 30 years old, and had moved to neighboring Siam in search of better opportunities for his loving family at home.

Two other builders suffered injuries, with one of them taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities believe the crane collapsed after carrying an overweight load.

Officials said the construction could now be suspended for at least one week pending investigations.

Pornlert Penpas, Chatuchak district director, said: 'According to the assessment, construction may have to be suspended for at least seven to 10 days in order for the engineering facility to inspect the details of the incident. We are determining if it was caused by equipment defects or human error.'
