Chinese oil firm PetroChina has completed the drilling of Asia's deepest horizontal well with a depth of 8,937.77 metres.

The video was filmed in the central-western part of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on March 14.

The structure is called a thousand-ton well referring to a single well that produces more than 1,000 tons of oil and gas equivalent per day.

According to reports, the Shunbei 84 Well has yielded an impressive daily production of 496.4 tons of crude oil and 653,000 cubic meters of natural gas with a converted oil and gas equivalent of 1,017 tons.

The significant discovery marks a new milestone in Asian onshore drilling as the Shunbei 84 Well is currently the deepest well on the continent with a capacity of over 1,000 tons.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
