An adorable video has emerged of a five-year-old boy changing the wheel bearing on his dad's car in Eleele, HI, US.

The footage, shot over the course of two weeks back in February, shows young Phoenix changing all the parts necessary with grown up tools to repair his father's bad wheel bearing.

"Phoenix is a curious child that loves learning about science and engineering. He loves to work with real things", Phoenix's father later wrote online.

He explained that the boy asked to make his own mechanic video after watching one his dad made a few years ago.

Phoenix's father offered him the opportunity to fix his car as soon as the car got a problem and stated online that the car ran correctly after the repair.

Phoenix is *NOT* a certified mechanic. Neither is Dad. Consult a qualified mechanic and follow your vehicle's service manual if you should choose to attempt any repair work. Although Phoenix did his best to fix this car correctly, he was 5 years and 4 months old at the time we filmed this educational experience. Phoenix is a curious child that loves learning about science and engineering. He loves to work with real things. When he was 4, he wanted to be "a scientist just like Bill Nye," which in his mind meant hosting his own version of 'Bill Nye the Science Guy'.

After viewing a 2013 video Dad made called '1ZZFE Oil Consumption Fix,' he asked if he could make his own car repair video just like it. Dad told him that he could, but that there was nothing wrong with the car at that time. A few months later in January of 2015, the wheel bearing went bad on our 2001 Toyota Corolla. Dad asked the now 5-year-old Phoenix if he still wanted to make his instructional video, and he said yes.

Dad ordered parts, and filming began February 1st, 2015. Dad had never replaced a bearing before, so both Dad and Phoenix had to learn how to do it at the same time. Phoenix worked sporadically after school and on weekends learning to fix the car and film the video for a little over 2 weeks. Our last shot was filmed February 16th, 2016.

Dad had a draft video assembled soon after, but went through several revisions before arriving at the current version nine moths later, in early November, shortly after Phoenix's 6th birthday.

Although dad helped with several steps that were simply too physically demanding for a 5-year-old to manage, a little loosening from dad, long breaker bars, and the wonder of mechanical leverage allowed Phoenix to performed the bulk of the repair himself.

Phoenix currently attends 1st grade and lives in Hawaii.
