One dead and one seriously injured after a grill house explosion in eastern China.

Dramatic video filmed in the city of Yancheng in Jiangsu Province on July 17 shows a grill house suddenly exploding causing its signboard to be blown off and a significant amount of furniture debris strewn across the roadside.

Neighbouring shops have also suffered extensive damage. Rescue workers were seen removing an injured party from the scene on a stretcher.

According to reports, a gas tank explosion ripped through the barbecue restaurant, claiming one life and leaving another person critically injured. The injured party was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Local police have revealed that the two victims were a married couple passing by the grill house at the time of the incident. Tragically, the wife did not survive the blast, and the husband is currently receiving intensive medical care.

The grill house owner, identified only as Wu, has been taken into custody by local law enforcement, and an intensive investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Further information disclosed by the police, based on initial investigations by firefighters, suggests that the explosion occurred due to a gas leak from an improperly shut valve on the grill house's gas tank. The gas tank, which had a capacity of 50 kg, was a new one that had just been installed the previous evening.

当地警方回应称，当时烧烤店非营业时间，现场伤亡的两人系一对路过的夫妻，妻子已身亡，丈夫仍在抢救。
警方还透露，经消防人员初步调查，爆炸事故系烧烤店煤气罐阀门未关，导致煤气泄漏引发。爆炸的煤气罐为前一天晚间刚更换的新罐，规格为50公斤。消防人员在现场发现，爆炸后，该煤气罐内“少了20公斤的气”。
