A specialized team from the Argentine Naval Prefecture successfully air-evacuated a crew member from fishing boat San Juan B, sailing more than 550 kilometres offshore from Comodoro Rivadavia in the Patagonian province of Chubut, Argentina.

The captain radioed for help, reporting a crew member experiencing facial numbness and left arm issues, requiring urgent medical attention.

Upon consultation with a Prefecture doctor, the captain was advised to head towards the port of Rawson, approximately 220 kilometres away.

A rescue operation was swiftly coordinated, and a helicopter and support plane with trained personnel were dispatched.

The crew member was airlifted to the aircraft, given immediate attention, and later transferred to a local hospital with a presumptive diagnosis of transient ischemic attack.
