Flash floods brought by Typhoon Haikui submerged streets in southern China.

The video was filmed in the city of Fuzhou in Fujian Province on September 4.

Due to the impact of Typhoon Haikui, parts of Fuzhou City were struck by heavy rainfall from 6:00 am on September 4 to 6 am on September 5.

Some areas recorded an astonishing 24-hour rainfall of over 300mm, classifying it as an extremely torrential downpour. The relentless rain led to severe flooding, with vehicles being washed away and citizens trapped on their car roofs, desperately waiting for rescue.

In a particularly harrowing incident, the Yongtai County Fire and Rescue Brigade dispatched teams to the affected area for rescue operations. Tragically, during their mission, a sudden flash flood swept away their vehicle with nine rescuers onboard.

Intensive search and rescue efforts followed and by approximately 5 pm, eight firefighters were rescued. Of these, six were found with stable vital signs, but two sadly lost their lives despite rescue attempts. One officer remains unaccounted for as the search continues.

Amid the ongoing deluge on September 5, the Fuzhou Meteorological Observatory escalated its rainstorm orange warning signal to red warning signal, the highest level, at 8:26 pm.
