A child went missing after being swept away by a mudslide in Peru.

Footage shows the deluge causing severe damage to roads and homes after bad weather hit the area in Santo Domingo de Anda district on March 7.

Authorities launched a massive search party for a missing minor after being swept away by a landslide followed by heavy rainfall.

Members of the National Police of Peru, personnel from the Volunteer Firefighters of Peru, and the district municipality all joined the search and rescue operations for the child.

The heavy rains also caused heavy flooding that affected the national road section between La Oroya and Huancayo in the Manantial area of the Curicaca district, Jauja province.

Homes and urban roads in the Bancapata Nueva Rioja and Victor Acosta localities suffered heavy damage after the worsening weather caused the Aychahuacso stream to overflow.

Authorities use heavy machinery to clear the roads and carry out rescues.
