A rooster pecked a young cobra to death and gulped it down in a matter of minutes.

A video of the incident shows the rooster foraging for food with its flock.

It comes across a young cobra, which tries to flee. But the rooster attacks it relentlessly and pecks it to death. It then goes on swallow it quickly.

While chickens are known to make a meal of small snakes, a cobra falling prey to a rooster is a rare event.

The incident took place at a house in a village in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The residents of the house took note of the duel and tried to shoo away rooster in vain. They were worried that the rooster would die of the venom it had swallowed.

Snake venoms are generally not toxic if swallowed. They are harmful when injected into the tissues that are normally protected by skin.
