Incident Details: A 2016 Ford Mustang was stolen from a residence in National City. The owner confronted the suspect as the crime was being committed but the suspect fled in his vehicle. A few hours later the owner of the Mustang received a call from Oceanside Police that they were in a pursuit with the stolen vehicle suspect but he managed to get away. The next day San Diego Police spotted the stolen Mustang at S. 61st and Cervantes Ave. Police attempted to pull over the suspect but he fled once again, leading them on a pursuit up Northbound I-805. The suspect got off on the 3300 block of Kearny Villa Road where the vehicle ran out of gas. The suspect fled the vehicle but was apprehended shortly after. A search of the car turned out items that did not belong to the registered owner which were possibly stolen. Officers also found different license plates that were possibly used to conceal the identity of the vehicle as well as car dealership plates to make the vehicle appear new. The suspect will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and felony evading.
