Science Teacher uses mini wind-up train and air table to teach simple science principle.
Using a mini wind-up train and a circular railway track of exactly the same mass as the train, this Australian Science Teacher explains the basics of Newton’s Third Law. The track is resting on a frictionless air table so that it is free to move. In order for the train to accelerate forwards it has to push backwards on the track. By pushing backward on the track, the track pushes forward on the train. For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. Thus the train goes one way, while the track goes the other way.
