The last four surviving B-type “Battle Buses” pulled into Covent Garden Piazza in central London on Saturday where the public had the chance to see the vehicles, some of which were used to transport troops to the Western Front.

More than 2,500 of these buses were built between 1910 and 1914.

1,000 were used for war service.

The London Transport Museum said this was “a rare chance to see the last four surviving B-type buses - the world’s first reliable, mass-produced motor bus - on display together for the final time."

The last four surviving B-type “Battle Buses” pulled into Covent Garden Piazza in central London today for a one day only event.

Between 1910-1914 over 2,500 of these buses were built. Over 1,000 buses were used for war service - including transporting troops to the Western Front.

The four buses on display were London Transport Museum’s restored battle bus, two which were also used as battle buses in WWI, and another which helped Londoners go about their daily lives during the war years.

The London Transport Museum said this was “a rare chance to see the last four surviving B-type buses - the world’s first reliable, mass-produced motor bus - on display together for the final time”.
