Kemi Badenoch, the Leader of the Opposition, joined protesters in London on Saturday (January 17) demonstrating against plans for China to open a large embassy in London near Tower Bridge.

The Conservative Party leader addressed the crowd gathered at Royal Mint Court, telling them that 'it is wrong for this super embassy to be built here on this site'.

She also told the demonstrators that 'we have to stand up to the abuses of China' and that the current UK government 'seems to be scared of China' and is 'afraid, too weak, no backbone'.

Earlier this week, the Telegraph newspaper in the UK revealed unredacted planning documents showing parts of the embassy site would be just under two metres away from fibre optic cables carrying sensitive British financial data.
