Hundreds of protesters rally against Chinese 'mega embassy' plans in London
Hundreds of protesters rallied in London on Saturday (January 17) against plans for China to open a huge embassy in London near Tower Bridge.
Demonstrators chanted 'no China mega embassy' and 'say no to CCP' outside Royal Mint Court, the site of the proposed embassy. Many were also critical of British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, with multiple placards depicting the PM acting submissive to China and Xi Jinping.
Earlier this week, the Telegraph newspaper in the UK revealed unredacted planning documents showing parts of the embassy site would be just under two metres away from fibre optic cables carrying sensitive British financial data.
