Research scholar dies while rock-climbing at Delhi's university campus

A 30-year-old research scholar died while attempting rock climbing at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in Delhi on Sunday (December 27).

According to the police, Praveen Tiwari was a resident of JNU's Brahmaputra Hostel and had recently joined as a research assistant at the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

The man did not use any ropes during rock climbing. He slipped and fell and was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

JNU’s Parthasarathy Rocks have rocky hills and crevices and it is also the highest natural point in Delhi.
