Dust storm hits northern Indian cities, causes power outage

A dramatic footage has emerged of dust storm hitting a town in northern India. The incident took place on Apr. 7 in Churu city, located in the eponymous district in Rajasthan state.

Visuals showed a huge brown storm making its way towards the city before it envelopes the entire region. The storm also affected preparations before a cricket match which was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Both the teams are affiliated with the Indian Premiere league, the domestic twenty-twenty franchise cricket tournament.

No casualties have been reported so far, though it is likely to cause breathing problems for many.

Churu also lies close to the Thar Desert and is prone to such dust storm.

Dust storms were also witnessed in Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Pilani, Bikaner and Jaipur area of the state.

Sikar also witnessed power outage due to the calamity.
