Footage shows how a cunning spider made a huge web to catch hundreds of flies. The video was recorded in Espirito Santo do Dourado, in the southern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais on January 4, 2019.

The unusual sighting came after residents in a rural area reported skies of 'raining spiders, a phenomenon which experts said is typical in the region during hot, humid weather.

Joao Fonseca, who witnessed the spectacle, was traveling with his family to his grandparents’ farm in Espírito Santo do Dourado, about 250km north-east of São Paulo, when he realised the sky was covered with black dots.

He told local media that he was ''stunned and scared'' – especially when one of the spiders fell through his open window.
