Meteor illuminates night sky as it burns up over Brazil
This is the spectacular moment a meteor illuminated the dark sky as it burned up over Brazil.
Footage shows the brilliant fireball glowing green as it streaked across the atmosphere in Rio Paranaiba, Minas Gerais.
Local media reported that the shooting star travelled toward Patos de Minas in the early hours of Tuesday, November 4. It then disintegrated in the upper atmosphere before it could reach the ground.
Meteors are created when meteoroids enter Earth's atmosphere at high speeds, causing friction that heats the meteoroid and the surrounding air. This process causes the meteoroid to melt and vaporise, creating a bright trail of light.
