Having a cash machine break and swallow a card has happened to many, but one woman went to extreme lengths to try and get hers back.

Bizarre CCTV footage has emerged from Guangdong Province, China of a woman ripping an ATM machine apart in a shopping centre to get her bank card back out.

The video, filmed in October, shows the woman starting to damage the ATM machine after several failed attempts to use it. She can be seen pulling off the plastic covering of the machine before pulling the entire screen out, exposing wires and internal parts.

According to local reports police arrived later and arrested the woman, identified locally as Ms Lin. Police said Ms Lin admitted damage to the machine in order to get back her bank card that became locked inside. She is awaiting psychological evaluation before being punished for the incident.
