Tojinbo cliffs are famous for Japan's foremost scenic spot where rugged rocks extend for about one kilometer along the coastline. Those oddly-shaped rocks made of columnar joints of pyroxene andesite are geologically rare, and you can only see in three places in the world including Tojinbo; North Korea's Mount Kumgang and Norwegian west coast of Scandinavian Peninsula. The view from the top of the cliffs which is 25 meter high is really spectacular. It is designated as the natural monument of Japan along with Oshima Island where is called "an island of God" located nearby. There is also a pleasure boat service available to let you enjoy a dynamic landscape of sheer cliffs from the sea. Its 30 minute trip takes you to Lion Rock, Candle Rock and so forth. Near the cliffs spread old-fashioned tourist shops nestling up to one another, and restaurants serving fresh seafood/vegetables and souvenir shops are full with people.
