This is the shocking moment a 'drunk' driver shunts a row of cars from behind - hurling them across a motorway.

Sarawut Sirijantrawanich was driving home when the speeding pickup truck with three people in the flatbed part of the back whizzed past him in Chachoengsao, central Thailand.

Dashcam footage from last Friday (29/11) morning shows the moment the bronze Toyota crashed into a black Honda - shunting it over the central reservation into oncoming traffic on the opposite side.

The Honda driver Pornwadee Mahapan, 28, said that she was slowly approaching the intersection when she was rammed from behind.

She said: "I was slowly following the car in front of me, being very careful, when I was crashed into hard from behind. I was thrown into the opposite side of the road."

The statement from Pornwadee, the alleged victim, was different from the one that the pickup driver Sompong Sakuldee, 52,gave to police.

He claimed that the crash was not his fault because the car in front suddenly slowed down.

Sompong was taken to the police station on suspicion of drunk drivingafter officers claimed they could smell beer on his breath.

Police Colonel Somsak Tosaksit said: "The pickup truck driver appeared to be intoxicated, which made his statement unreliable.

"Initially, we arrested him for suspected drunk driving and driving with carelessness after his breath tests returned a positive result for alcohol.''
