Indonesian interfaith activist arrested for alleged hate speech
The police arrested Sudarto, the activist of pluralism who led the Pusaka Foundation, related to the issue of a ban on Christmas celebrations in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia.
Sudarto is seen as spreading information that triggers a sense of hatred and creates hostility SARA (Ethnic, Religious, Race and Intergroup)
Together with the suspect, also secured 1 Samsung J-6 brand mobile phone and 1 laptop that allegedly used to spread news on social medical.
Sudarto is suspected of committing a criminal offense as stipulated in article 28 paragraph (2) of the junto article 45 of the ITE Law.
Sudarto's name came out after writing a number of posts that mentioned the prohibition of Christmas celebrations in two regions in West Sumatra, namely Sijunjung and Dharmasraya Regencies.
The post made me uneasy, because it was considered disturbing the harmony of religious life which had been maintained well in both regions.
