A room in Staycity Hotel in York, UK was sealed off today (January 30) after one of their guests reportedly fell ill.

The unnamed man was rushed from the Staycity Hotel into hospital by medics on Wednesday night (January 29).

It was earlier reported that the man is a Chinese national but Staycity said they were unable to confirm his citizenship.

The building will undergo a deep clean.

An English city popular with Chinese tourists was at the centre of a coronavirus alert today (Thurs) after a hotel resident was rushed to hospital by paramedics in hazmat suits.

The un-named man, believed to be a Chinese national, was rushed from the Staycity Hotel in the centre of York to hospital by medics on Wednesday night.

Paramedics wearing Hazmat suits entered the hotel, near the city's Barbican theatre, after reports of that a guest had fallen ill.

It is feared the man has been struck down by the deadly coronavirus, which has killed 170 people worldwide and been confirmed in 15 countries.
