Long queues form outside a grocery in the Philippines on the first day of the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine guideline on March 18.

The shop in Calamba, Laguna province, is part of the Luzon island where the coronavirus covid-19 quarantine is being implemented.

Resident AB Coronel said that only 10 people were allowed at a time inside the grocery to avoid contact.

He said: "The elderly are allowed inside without having to fall in line. It's going to take us hours before we get our supplies."

Large parts of the Philippines have been put on community lockdown with soldiers manning checkpoints, where people ar eunable to pass through without proof that they live or work in the area.
