A large fire broke out at Harrington junior school in Derbyshire on the 28.05.2020 at around 13:00. Derbyshire fire and rescue began tackling the fire but a short time later 2 firefighters were injured. It is also reported that the school was undergoing a deep clean whilst the children had been off for half term.

The fire was under control at around 15:00 and was being dampened down.

The initial report is that the fire began in the roof space but an official investigation had not yet concluded.

Despite lockdown social distancing rules, 100s of people flocked to the fire with families and children all standing close to the fire as explosions went off. Crowds were also close to each other despite the risk of coronavirus.
