On Friday (June 12), protesters and police clash in Hong Kong, with police waving a blue flag of unlawful assembly at the protesters.

June 12 is a significant day for the protesters as it stopped the extraction bill to China a year ago.

As protesters attempted to gather near Langham place to celebrate the 12th of June 2019, when protesters managed to block the adoption of the Extradition Bill in the Legislative Council, riot police deployed a blue flag. The blue flag declares an unlawful assembly, hence making the sole continued presence on location an offence

The blind lawyer, Ms. Joy Luk, who is regularly a fixture of the pro-democracy protests performed "Glory to Hong Kong" on her flute, while other protesters chanted "Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times" in front of the Langham Place shopping mall. Protesters were celebrating the protests of 12 June 2019, which successfully stopped the examination of the extradition bill, but also started a cycle of several months of violence which culminated in the paroxystic siege of PolyU in November 2019.

As our journalist arrived in Mongkok, he was able to witness a large arrest of protesters and bystanders near the Langham place mall. Chanting slogans defiantly the protesters at 8 pm, celebrated one year since the extradition bill examination was halted in Hong Kong. They were surrounded and obliged to stand against a wall. Later, during the evening each of them was subject to a search of his belongings before being released for the most part.
