In Jerusalem, peaceful protests ended in riots, clashes with law enforcement and the dispersal of the crowd with tear gas and water cannons. More than 30 people have been arrested.
Initially, thousands of Israelis protested peacefully against quarantine restrictions and the so-called consent law. It allows the Government to enact emergency regulations without the approval of Parliament and even without publishing its decision. This is not the first time in July that mass protests have escalated into clashes with the police. Many central streets of Jerusalem were closed in advance that night.

This footage was filmed and produced 21July 2020. Several thousand people participated in the Tuesday evening protest. Some of them demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, because of his trial. A second group of protesters opposed the government’s recent attempts to restrict restaurants due to coronavirus.
