Dozens of red ants carried away a centipede while killing it with their venomous stings.

The gruesome display of nature's ruthlessness was capture in Phitsanulok, northern Thailand, on September 6.

Resident Sitidat Yukong recorded the insects while he was hiking.

He said: ''The ants were deadly. I carried on watching for 10 minutes. The centipede died and the ants took it away to their nest.

''Sometimes nature can be so evil. I think the centipede must have been in a lot of pain from so many stings.''

The ants in the video are 'fire ants', or solenopsis, one of the most venomous insects in the county. They and are found in most warm tropical areas of the world, including the Southeast U.S.
