Two female White-nosed coatis, also known as coatimundis (Nasua narica) where rescued and set free in the wild by the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) “Born to be Wild Guatemala” (BTBWGT) and Animal Conservation Guatemala (FAE), two initiatives that captures and rescues, heals, nurtures and rehabilitates, to finally release wild animals back into their habitats. This initiative also educates local people on the importance of protecting and preserving wildlife in the Central American country. The coatis were released in the protected nature reserve of Sierra del Caral, a mountainous region in the Guatemalan Caribbean, after spending sometime in FAE and BTBWGT facilities for their healing, nourishment and rehabilitation, after being rescued.
