Caning for Violating Sharia Law in Aceh
Footage shows a man seen publicly caned for violating sharia law, in North Aceh, on September 15, 2020, in Indonesia's Aceh province. According to local officials' reports, four male sharia lawbreakers were sentenced to 25 to 105 lashes for child abuse and adultery.
Pipuk Firman Priyadi MH, Head of the North Aceh District Prosecutor's Office, said that during the Coronavirus pandemic, has done carried out three lashes for convicted sharia violators in North Aceh, by implementing health protocols in accordance with recommendations, to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
