Forest officials in southern India's Kerala rescued a golden jackal that fell into a deep well on September 16.

Officials are seen using a large net to scoop the stranded animal from out of the watery pit.

The animal was then pulled from the well and later released.

Forest department officials have rescued a golden jackal after it got stranded inside a well in southern India's Kerala.

The visual came out of Manimala in Kottayam district on September 16.

The video shows several Plachery forest department officials using a trap bag to rescue the animal.

They lower the trap bag for and secured the jackal inside it.

Following this, the bag was pulled out of the well.

The rescue team consists of Vegi P V Deputy Ranger, Anandasurya, Kareena Beat forest officer, Ajayan and Ajesh.

According to reports, the animal strayed into the human habitat and fell into the well.

The locals spotted the jackal and had alerted the forest department.
