A new beach in Manila has come under fire as a government beautification project is said to threaten local marine life.

Footage, filmed on September 18, shows many flocking to the new hotspot to document the finishing touches being made to Manila Bay's new white sand beautification project.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources have used dolomite sand that is usually used in construction work.

According to local reports, the sea was polluted prompting a rehabilitation effort, but environmentalists say the use of dolomite sand will further threaten local marine life.

Hundreds of tourist and bloggers flocked to Manila Bay in time of the almost finished beautification / dumping of whitesands as part of rehabilitation and beautification of the polluted sea. People are squeezing without social distancing while they marvel at the new touristy spot in the metropolis.

For the past weeks the dumping of whitesands ( from crushed dolomite minerals in Cebu) stirs controversy and uproar from different environmental groups.
