An estimated of 1.3-million Catholic devotees attends the Peñafrancia procession and fluvial parade on September 16, 2023 in Naga City, Philippines. On it’s 313rd anniversary, this Marian festival is one of the oldest festivities in the Philippines in honor of Naga City’s patroness, Our Lady of Peñafrancia. As a tradition, an image of Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia is carried by devotees from Naga Metropolitan Cathedral and a procession going to Naga River then traverses the Naga River going to Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Penafrancia. Catholic devotees wave their handkerchiefs during the fluvial procession as they say their personal prayers.
