Several members of Youth Congress have been detained amid massive protests that broke out across southern India's Karnataka after a 19-year-old Dalit girl was brutally raped by four upper-caste men on September 14 in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

The visual came out of Mangalore in Dakshina Kannada district city on October 2.

According to reports, she was out to collect fodder — on September 14 — when four men allegedly dragged her into the fields, pulling her by the dupatta around her neck, and assaulted her.

She was grievously injured and died on September 29 in a Delhi hospital after fighting for her life for two weeks.

Following this, her body was "forcibly cremated" at midnight by the Uttar Pradesh Police allegedly without her family's consent.

The incident sparked nationwide unrest with several people demanding speedy justice.

The video shows Youth Congress members being detained inside the police van.

On October 1 two Indian Congress leaders were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police while they marched to meet the family of the rape victim.

The protesters strongly opposed the First Information Report against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi after the incident.
