Sailors rescued after fire rips through ship in South Korea
This is the dramatic moment a fire broke out on a ship operating offshore in Jeollanam-do, South Korea.
Flames started on the fishing vessel at around 2.54 AM in the Yeosu shipyard, around 26 km north of Heuksando, Sinan-gun.
The Mokpo Maritime Police Station said there were 13 sailors on board waiting to be rescued by the coastguard.
Five of the crew were trapped in the bedroom due to the thick smoke for almost an hour along with three other sailors who suffered breathing problems.
The coastguard team saved all of the sailors who were trapped on the vessel.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated at Yeosu Port by the maritime affairs officials.
