Escaping 'drunk driver' hits traffic policeman in China
Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of a suspected drunk driver hitting a traffic officer while trying to avoid being caught.
The surveillance video, captured on a busy road in Shanghai at around 07:30am on Monday 19th January, shows two uniformed officers approaching a red car, which can be seen trying to cut across lanes of traffic.
The driver of the car then turns in the road and speeds towards the two officers, slamming into one of them and carrying him on the car’s bonnet for several metres.
After running a red light, the driver of the car can be seen hitting two further vehicles before the traffic officer is thrown to the ground.
According to local reports, the traffic officer was immediately taken to hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
The driver of the red car has been remanded in custody and will face trial. The case is under further investigation.
