Hydrogen balloons explode in elevator after Chinese man tries to use lighter to separate them
Hydrogen balloons exploded in an elevator after a man tried to use a lighter to separate them in southern China.
The video, shot in the city of Changsha in Hunan Province on November 1, shows a man walking into an elevator with a bunch of hydrogen balloons. He then took out a lighter to try to separate the balloons and gave one to a girl.
However, a ball of fire suddenly burst out followed by the scared people running out of the elevator.
Five people in the elevator all suffered burns in different degrees.
According to reports, the man named Chen was about to leave the karaoke place after drinking.
When he was in the elevator, he wanted to give one hydrogen balloon to a girl but he could not separate the balloons. He took a lighter out to try to burn down the ropes but caused the blast.
Police officers arrived at the hospital to take Chen to the police station and detained him.
The case is in further investigation. The video was provided by local media with permission.
