Rare UFO clouds form over mountains in Indonesia
This is the spectacular moment disc-shaped clouds resembling an alien spaceship formed above mountains in Indonesia.
The rare UFO clouds formed over eight different mountains in East and Central Java provinces on November 5.
Residents LIVING around the mountains Arjuno, Welirang, Bromo, Merhabu, Andong, Sumbing, Lawu, and Merapi were mesmerised by the beautiful clouds.
However, they became even more amazed after finding that the clouds appeared simultaneously on top of the great mountains.
Aldies, 24, who lives at the foot of Mount Arjuno, said she was surprised when the clouds appeared in the morning.
She said: "This is the first time I saw such strange-looking clouds. They looked like a UFO and was really beautiful so I took a video."
Residents who live near the other mountains also noticed the rare cloud phenomenon, which appeared simultaneously in different areas.
East Java Meteorological Station officer Teguh Tri Sutanto, said the strange formations are lenticular clouds, but it is extremely rare that they formed in different regions at the same time.
He said: "These clouds indicate turbulence or vertical wind swirls that are strong enough to make it dangerous for low flights such as helicopters around clouds."
Lenticular clouds are one of the rarest clouds which are believed to be one of the most common explanations for reported UFO sightings.
They are dense, stationary clouds which are caused by sudden air movements and are often found near hills or mountains. They can cause turbulence for planes if they fly through the cloud or surrounding areas.
