Chilling scene as sleeping security guard has bed set on fire
This was the moment a homeless man saved a security guard from an apparent attempt to set him on fire.
Mohan Panwar, who works as a security guard at a tea shop in Ratlam in northern India, was fast asleep on the night of November 16.
An unidentified man approached him from behind and set fire to his pillow. Panwar, who was tired after the day’s hard work, slept on even as the fire spread.
Luckily for him, the fire drew the attention of a homeless man from nearby. He came and woke up Panwar, who quickly doused the fire, and complained to the police.
Police accessed the CCTV footage of the incident and started a probe. They found that the man who set fire was mentally disturbed. They traced him and sent him for counselling.
The homeless man, who goes by the name ‘Malpani’, frequents the tea shop where Panwar works.
Local residents said several mentally disturbed individuals lived in the vicinity of a nearby temple, which gives free food to the poor.
