A rare black leopard was spotted strolling down a national park in central India's Madhya Pradesh on November 28. The exquisite sight was spotted in Pench National Park's Buffer Zone of Telia.

A video shows a normal leopard casually seated in the woods before a darker-skinned leopard joins it. The rare leopard is then seen seated in the midst of woods before following the first one into the denser area of the forest.

This black leopard is one of the three cubs of a female leopard. It may be noted that the rare species of Melanistic leopard, popular by the name of 'black leopard', was first spotted at the Pench Reserve by tourists on July 27 and then on September 17, 2020.

Field Director of Pench Tiger Reserve, Vikram Singh Parihar, informed that after a month of hectic efforts, they succeeded in spotting the black leopard. He further said that this has also helped to increase tourism in the reserve as people are excited to see the melanin leopard.

Pench National Park is located in the heart of India and covers a total area of 758 square km (292 square miles). It is located at the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara.

Not always a national park, Pench was declared as a sanctuary in 1965, and rose to the status of a National Park in 1975. Being home to several tigers, it was established as a tiger reserve in 1992 and is now a part of Project Tiger. The Bengal Tiger is the main tourist attraction of the park, along with common sightings of the Asian antelopes, Indian leopards, and sloth bears.
