Doctors took selfies as the Christmas tree lit up at COVID hospital in an attempt to improve morale for patients and healthcare workers,Tuesday night 8/12 . A note of optimism was brought by the Christmas decorations with lanterns and a large tree in the reference hospital of Thessaloniki for the coronavirus.
With obvious emotion in his voice and tears in his eyes, the mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, spoke about the difficult battle that doctors and paramedics are fighting against the coronavirus in the city's hospitals. During the lighting of the Christmas tree, the mayor of Thessaloniki made an emotionally charged statement on camera where, among other things, he said:
"The heart of the city (Thessaloniki) beats in these hospitals. This year we have different lighting of the Christmas tree and we are here at this hospital, which has been on the front line since the beginning of the pandemic, to give joy and breath to our fellow citizens who are sick and fighting the disease. And especially to the doctors and healthcare workers of the hospitals who do everything beyond human resources, giving this battle 24/7. It is crucial for all of us to be by their side especially these days because the real meaning of Christmas is about love and solidarity. I wish this battle to be won soon and next year we will all be together and celebrate as we wish. Happy birthday and I wish you strength in these difficult times."
